Hear stories from the Anindilyakwa People or Warnumamalya (true people), who are the Traditional Owners of the Groote archipelago off the north coast of Australia.
This new display is designed by and written with Anindilyakwa artists and Elders, building on years of collaboration, including the return of 174 cultural heritage items from Manchester Museum’s collections to their Country in 2023.
Through their own words, art and traditions, the community shares stories of identity, belonging and resilience – offering a deeply personal insight into their arts practice on Country today.
