Black Creative Soirée
The Black Creative Soirée is a black tie event celebrating Black creatives during Black History Month.
The evening features fashion shows by independent Black designers, an art exhibition featuring Black artists and creative performances by Black musicians, poets and dancers. With only 2% of workers in the UK’s creative industries being Black, there is a clear need for greater representation in this field. The Soirée was launched in 2022 to celebrate the incredible work of Black creatives in the North West, who unfortunately are severely underrepresented. The soirée provides a platform for Black creatives to showcase their work, connect with fellow creatives and network with industry leaders.
“It is really heartening to witness the birth of the Black Creative Soirée, a vital platform that brings together the worlds of fashion, spoken word, music, independent businesses in an evening of what is black joy! I’d love to see it grow from strength to strength to become a staple in Manchester’s annual calendar, offering this space where we can all gather to celebrate the amazing talent from the region.” – Kee Hong Low, Creative Director at Factory International.
