Collection Bites: Dinosaurs
The myths, the legends and the truth
Dramatic depictions in film and popular culture, as well as past scientific guesswork have led to exaggerated and dramatic interpretations of the lives and the extinction of dinosaurs.
In a family-friendly talk, Jennie will take a critical look at how dinosaurs have been portrayed and compare this with an evidence-based, but still roar-some understanding!
This talk will connect with the Museum’s mission in ways that are accessible for young visitors. This will include the lasting impact of the modern Western presentation of dinosaurs, past ideas about the effects of climate change, and comparisons with the current climate crisis.
Collection Bites is an adult programme, however the content is suitable for all ages. The talks are approx. 30 minutes. They take place on the first Wednesday of each month in Manchester Museum’s Research Studio on the Second Floor (accessible by stairs or lift).
Please note: Tickets are very limited. If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your booking through Eventbrite, or email museum@manchester.ac.uk to let us know, so we can offer your place to someone else.
