Meet the Changemakers: Black environmentalists
celebrating Black History Month
Join us for an afternoon of climate-themed activities, workshops and family fun led by local Black led organisations to mark Black History Month.
For this edition of Meet the Changemakers, we’ll be joined by
- Black Girls Hike
- Peaks of Colour
- Afrocats
- Manchester Museum Curators – Diana Arzuza Buelvas, Curator of Entomology (the study of insects) and Njabulo Chipangura, Curator of Living Cultures.
Drop in between 12pm and 4pm to discover new and different ideas and get involved in free creative workshops and activities for all ages.
Manchester Museum’s Top Floor is a space for learning, connecting, and inspiring change, and Meet the Changemakers is our quarterly event that gives you the chance to meet the communities, charities, activists, and artists shaping a more sustainable and fair future for Manchester.
Schedule
12-2pm Object handling with the Entemology collection (insects)
1-2pm Family workshop with Afrocats (drumming, dance, storytelling)
1-2pm Nature writing with Evie Muir (outside, dress weather approriate)
2-4pm Object handling with the African Collections linked to the outdoors
3-5pm Black Girls Hike city walk
All activities apart from the city walk and nature writing workshops are drop in, just come along on the day, no need to book. More information on these workshops to come.
