Sultanate - Sultan Razia
An animation composed by Dr Sabina Shah
Sultanate is a revivalism of Muslim women’s history from the Asian subcontinent bringing to life an innovative means to capture a 13th century historical moment.
Using puppetry to create an animation inspired by traditional practices, Sultanate re-tells the legendary historical narrative of a woman’s perseverance for human equality as laid within the foundations of Islam branching into mysticism.
Sultanate is the first full length animation to be created by a Muslim woman about a Muslim woman in the UK.
Sabina will be available throughout the day to answer any questions.
