Welcome Sounds
A student event as part of The Cultural Welcome
If you’re new to campus, this is a chance to find out what the Museum is all about. Hint, it isn’t just objects in glass cases.
Party to the sounds of up-and-coming Mancunian musicians and experience the Museum as the sun goes down during our student welcome event. It’s part of The Cultural Welcome, a special week of student events around the Oxford Road Corridor, Manchester’s Knowledge Quarter.
Working with our friends at Factory International, we’re delighted to be able to showcase two of the talented artists from their Factory Sounds programme, which supports extraordinary people in music across Greater Manchester.
Experience the reggae and hip hop infused sound of MC J.Chambers, who sheds light on his lived experiences through his art. Lose yourself in the dreamy vocals of Saint Harmony, a singer-songwriter drawing on a variety of genres to carry her sharp lyricism.
As well as the music, we’ll be running tours and activities throughout the evening, giving you a chance to get properly acquainted with the Museum and to enjoy our spaces in unexpected ways.
PS, you don’t have to be new to the city to enjoy the event. There’s room for everyone under our roof.
Make sure to check out the full programme for The Cultural Welcome too.
