Time Odyssey is a major new national learning programme created by Art Explora and the British Museum, in collaboration with digital developer Arcade XR.
It takes children on a quest through their local museum – both physically and virtually – using a fun, interactive gamified learning experience designed for Key Stage 2 pupils.
During a full day at Manchester Museum, students will meet characters lost in time: Revna – the Viking of the Sea, Cheng – a Trainee Scribe from Ancient China, Felix – future leader from Roman Britain, and Hori – a tomb painter from Ancient Egypt. Together they work in teams to tackle five quests and open the time portal to get their chosen character back home.
Time Odyssey is designed to be played on tablets (loaned to the class for the day) while being physically present in the museum. The class teacher will be responsible for the class on the day, with introductions, timetables, resources and technical support provided by the Manchester Museum team. We recommend 4-5 accompanying adults per class (perhaps more if pupils require reading support), which may include parent helpers and TAs. Time will be available during your day to eat lunch. Pre- and post-visit resources are also provided.
