Menu

A menu that doesn’t cost the earth

Here at the Museum Café we aim to provide food and drink supporting a fair and sustainable future for people and planet.

You’ll notice that our menu doesn’t contain meat, that’s because eating less meat means less destruction of wild places and less climate pollution choices.

Where possible our ingredients are Fairtrade certified, meaning safer working conditions and fairer pay for farmers.

We support local producers and suppliers so that our ingredients don’t have to travel far.  We work with a local free range Lancashire dairy and award winning local female run bakery.

We use The Bee Cup, a new pioneering returnable cup scheme to eliminate the use of paper cups.

Meet our local suppliers

Lee Wakeham

Owner, H.M.Pasties

Started in 2018 by Lee to ‘bring out the good inside’, H.M.Pasties is an artisan food producer offering ex-offenders training, a stable job and a regular income in a supportive environment. Their handmade, award-winning pies and pasties are baked in Bolton and distributed to some of Greater Manchester’s best known businesses, including Manchester Museum.

Sarah & Kate

Sarah and Kate established Silver Apples Bakery in 2009 to supply their delicious baked goods direct to restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and museums across the North. Everything is lovingly hand made from scratch at their bakery in Stockport using locally-sourced, free range and Fairtrade ingredients wherever possible.

Manchester Veg People

Manchester Veg People (MVP) is a co-operative of organic growers, buyers and workers.

MVP provides delicious organic produce grown, where possible, within 50 miles of Manchester by their amazing growers. That means super fresh veg, less waste and a lower carbon footprint – all while supporting local farmers to make a living.
